Bas Relief Paintings
My bas relief paintings grew naturally from my work with cold porcelain clay. After years of shaping small details by hand, it felt right to bring that love of texture into my painting practice. These pieces combine gentle sculptural forms with layers of colour, creating artwork you can both see and softly feel.
Each painting is inspired by my connection to nature—meadow flowers, quiet landscapes, and the shifting moods of the sea. Bas relief allows me to honour these subjects in a more tactile way, giving depth to petals, grasses, and waves so they hold a quiet presence on the canvas.
All pieces are created on gesso-primed cradled panels, making them durable and beautifully presented. They arrive ready to hang as they are, or you can choose to frame them if you prefer.
This work is simply an extension of what I love most: noticing the beauty of the natural world and giving it form through my hands.
The Meadow Guardians Collection
A bas relief series honouring the quiet life of the wild
The Meadow Guardians is a series of bas relief paintings celebrating the quiet presence of wildlife in meadow and woodland settings. Each piece combines hand-sculpted cold porcelain details with softly layered paint, creating artwork that holds both visual depth and gentle texture. Raised stems, grasses, and foliage invite the viewer into scenes that feel close and alive.
The collection features the calm night wanderings of the badger, the tender stillness of hares under the moon, the alert grace of the fox, the warm glow of a hare in daylight, the quiet confidence of a fox among tall grasses, the ancient strength of the stag, and the soft watchfulness of a barn owl resting in the meadow.
Painted on gesso-primed cradled panels, each piece arrives ready to hang or frame.
Together, these works honour those small, timeless moments when an animal pauses and the landscape seems to breathe with it—a gentle reminder of the beauty and stillness held within the natural world.
